Ideas for when planning your Summer 2014 holiday to Croatia

Posted .

To put it bluntly and honestly  – Book early – the best property is booking up fast !

Suadade Beach and promenade at GradacAlready we can report that the Villa Andrea in Tucepi is fully booked for sea view balcony rooms for the month of June – we aren’t surprised to be honest it’s a real winner,  family run, boutique, fantastic food, and right on the beach.

As a suggested alternative – look at the Laurentum, or the Saudade.  Both are on the Makarska Riviera – the Laurentum whilst a larger  hotel than the Andrea,  has a pool and a large terrace and looks right over the marina in Tucepi.  The Saudade is a little quieter but does benefit from the most incredible views, over to the islands of Brac and Hvar.  Its also possible to arrange day trip to both these islands from either hotel.

Our huge success story for this Summer has to be the MS Splendid.   New for 2014, this top quality ship cruises  on Saturdays from Dubrovnik.  We’re already fully booked for main and upper deck for the 6th September departure.  There are only 18 cabins altogether and everything is of the highest quality, including, in our view, the itinerary – check it out here …..

Banje beach DubrovnikThe fabulous Casa Katica is also booking up fast.  Unusual in that it has private outside dining and is within a spit of Dubrovnik Old Town… Alternatives we are now suggesting are either Sunny Apartments, or the beautiful Villa Busovina. Call us – we can walk you through them both.

Our best kept secret also has to be the recent quiet (soft?) launch of our boutique Italy programme, we thought about this long and hard and decided that a great two centre holiday could be Puglia twinned with Dubrovnik, or how about Venice and the Istria region.  Two countries seamlessly fused by using our tailor made Concierge Travel Service.  Offering the best in holidays to Croatia and holidays to Italy.  Check out Completely Italy if you have time – give us your feedback!

On another tack completely, if scuba diving appeals to you, Croatia has some of the finest diving opportunities in Europe.  There is plenty of marine life to see in the clear blue waters of the Adriatic. As an example, the island of Vis has several old wrecks around its shores and provides a rich environment for sea life.  Or there are many caves scattered along the coastline to explore.  You will need an internationally recognised diving certificate and a diving card issued by the Croatian Diving Association ( which can be bought through diving clubs and centres or authorised tourist agencies.  You can sign up to one of the numerous Dive Centres and Diving Schools along the coast for expert tuition for beginners or organised trips for those already qualified.

And finally ………………we hear its been confirmed that Bob Dylan is scheduled to perform in Pula later this year, obviously the hatchet has been buried between the nation and the veteran performer, as late last year, the Croatian people charged him with incitement to racial hatred, following an investigation in France where allegedly he had compared the Croatians to Nazis and Slave Owners!  Far be it for us to say that some people have too much time on their hands !!
