Genuinely impossible to star rate, this beautifully and thoughtfully converted former stone barn now offers 3 separate dwellings, which may be taken individually or as a whole for a family holiday for up to 10 people. Our MD would give it 5 stars, but then this is so much ‘her type of place’……. The Quaich (pronounced Quake) is a traditional Scottish drinking vessel used to offer a warm welcome to guests – and – on their departure a fond farewell.
Christine (originally from Scotland) and Mick from England offer the warmest of welcomes and are on hand to advise on the must sees and assist you to get the very best from your holiday. And this attention to detail is shown throughout even down to the thoughtful touch of a comprehensive welcome pack with juice, eggs, bread, tea and coffee which awaits you. Chris is also an amazing cook, we’d recommend you staying here one night for a meal ! Her being Scottish explains the haggis which can sometimes be found on her fantastic menu.
It is the stunning authenticity of this peaceful development which makes Quaich such a pleasure for us to feature and for our guests to visit. Given its fairly remote location, we do recommend car hire, however, transfers can be arranged for those who prefer to be chauffered.
Jedan, Dva and Tri (one, two and three in Croatian) Jedan sleeps 2, and Dva and Tri sleep up to 4, by means of a fold out sofabed in the lounge area.
All dwellings have double beds (super king size, in Jedan, doubles, in Dva and Tri) at mezzanine level under the rafters and all have mosquito nets and hairdryer. Living accommodation is open plan in style at ground floor level, and has a small but well equipped kitchen area which features two ring electric hob, fridge and microwave. A separate shower room is also found on the ground floor.
The properties are, of course, air conditioned throughout. All have TV and DVD and CD. There is a cot and a high chair available at no additional charge. Tri has a fab free standing bath as well, Jedan and Dva have good showers.
The accommodation is clustered around a stone courtyard with pergola, covered with a vine, it’s just the best place to take breakfast al fresco. Up a few steps from the courtyard, is the swimming pool. With garden furniture and parasols, it’s the perfect place to take a peaceful swim.
The small hamlet of Vrbanj is 4km from the nearest beach and the Owners are more than happy to advise on what to see and do locally. Vrbanj has a small local shop, post office and 2 bars and a restaurant. More comprehensive shopping and dining can be found at Jelsa, just a further 3 km away. Whilst here take in a jeep safari, some snorkelling or sailing.
Completely Croatia says:-‘Discovering The Quaich is like stepping back in time but with no compromise on lifestyle or comfort. A perfect romantic retreat for two, or an ideal place for a larger family to take over in entirety, we can see this growing into a perennial favourite with our guests.
