Mostar is the regional capital of the Herzegovina region of Bosnia Herzegovina, situated in the heart of the Western Balkans. A multi faceted place, it is a unique fusion of East and West meeting on the turquoise river.
Then drive along the delta of the Neretva river and inland Herzegovina. There is a stop enroute at the village of Pocitelj. Originally building work was started in the 15th century by the Croatians and completed 100 years later by the Ottamans, so there is a real East/West feel here.
Once arrived in Mostar, visit the famous symbol, the Bridge – ‘Stari Most’. Destroyed by shelling in 1993, it was totally rebuilt by the local people who view the bridge as the heart of their lives.
There are other sights to see too here, visit the Old Bazaar and Turkish house and one of the mosques which have stood here for many centuries.
Return home to Dubrovnik after a real feast of Culture.
