Korcula

The medieval walled town of Korcula sits on a promontory surrounded by crystal-clear water and is one of the best preserved in the Mediterranean. Take a step back in time as you enter the narrow streets of the sleepy old town through the imposing Revelin Tower, with its drawbridge. There are apparently over 150 churches on the island, which are still in use today, including the impressive Cathedral of St. Mark.

Outside the old town you will find some lively bars and restaurants. Beach-lovers should take a boat trip to one of the tiny islands nearby or head to the Peljesac peninsula with its attractive pebble and sandy beaches.

Korcula is well known for its strong, white wine and its olive oil. Keen ramblers will enjoy exploring the vineyards and olive groves in the island’s fertile interior. It is also famous for its sculpture and you will see many magnificent works of art in its streets.
